I like these compositions from artist Magnus Plessen (b. 1967). He leaves open spaces in the painting, scraped brushstrokes that "fill the surface of the canvas, as well as designate boundaries of emptiness." I like the idea of an interior and exterior location of the image-- one in the viewer or creator, and one on the surface. The top image is called "In and Out of My Shirt" and you can see the image peeling away, or folding toward-- you don't really know. But the idea of depicting the unseen is a fascinating one.
