If you saw the New York Times Magazine yesterday, then you saw the portfolio of Breakthrough performers in film for 2007 shot by Ryan McGinley. I love his photographs-- just think if you had the assignment of shooting Julie Christie (left) or Jennifer Jason Leigh (right) or Casey Affleck (bottom)-- how does a photographer find a note of originality? How do you photograph the world's most photographed people in ways that let you see them in a new way? As I said before, Ryan McGinley is one artist I'd collect if I could just find that extra million somewhere.
