John Baldessari

I've been interested in this artist for some time-- I like the use of old images with a pop twist. I like the fact that you could place your own face in the voids he leaves. And in Eight (Red) Lines (top photo) I like that he has a single element-- a rope that is present in all eight photographs -- which he paints red and then "stacks" the photos to show a continuous line running through them. It's a way of making new from old, seeing something again in a ddifferent light. It's an interesting take on the expected. See more Baldessari here.
Top: Eight (Red) Lines: With Persons, Black and White (One in Color) (2004); Middle: Stonehenge with Two Persons (2005);
Bottom: Money with Space Betweeen (1994)
