There is a local woman, Sally Newcomb, who hand cuts silhouettes from black paper while your child tries to remain very still. She's great at it and we took our children to her when they were each around 18 months old. I love the results, but thought they were a little Victorian. So, scanning them in, I enlarged them greatly and recolored them, then framed them in white frames with no mat. They look great. Sally has been creating silhouettes on the spot for years and I greatly admire her skills. This is a very old technique that I modernized a bit by playing with scale and color.
