We had the great good fortune of going to a house sale this weekend that featured so many mid-century gems that we wanted to buy the whole lot, including the house itself. This set of dinnerware came home with us. It's from the German company BLOCK, and is a pattern called Chromatics. I've seen pieces of this in other color ways, but to see a full set of it in the gold / brown color was really a find and we could not resist-- 22 dinner plates alone! I can't find much about the company itself so if anyone has info about when these pieces were in production, I'd love to know about it.

What an AWESOME score!
So jealous ...
;-)
Thank Leah-- believe me, we're never this lucky! I also just linked to your recent post about the pieces you saw in O at Home magazine.
Thanks, Jim! There are actually quite a few Block Chromatics pieces up on eBay right now, for others who may be interested in collecting it:

oh i am insanely jealous!!!!! seriously.
I PURCHASED MINE IN 1970'S, BRUENERS SACRAMENTO CALIFORNIA. i LOVE IT.
My aunt gave me what was left of her old set of gold-brown plates a few months ago (and a creamer). I didn't know what they were so I googled them and found your blog. They're beautiful in a full set!!
Anyway, I'm getting ready to move, and trying to lighten my load, so I've put them on ebay if you or any of your readers are interested. Maybe they'll find a full set to become friends with. (o:

Wow! I've been looking all over the place for these and it looks like you ran across the mother load. I have a dinner plate I broke and have not been able to replace it to save my life. Any chance you have interest in selling one? Please let me know one way or the other. Thank you so very much!
Alison-- If you're interested in buying a plate, you can email me at moderncraftonline@gmail.com
You can also try eBay.
anyone know if these plates are dishwasher safe?
can't seem to find any info on that.
thanks.
I've been washing mine in the dishwasher for years now without any problems. I don't use any kind of citrus dishwasher soap though because I've heard that can slowly cause damage to your dishes. I'm still looking fora few dinner plates if anyone knows of any for sale. Thanks!!
