Jockum Nordström

Elisabeth at fine little day sent me a great artist tip. I've not seen the work of Jockum Nordström before, but his style is heavily influenced by both global and Swedish folk art. Somewhat whimsical, his works also have a poignancy that gives them weight beyond a simple illustration. He lives and works in Stockholm. Photos courtesy of Galleri Magnus Karlsson in Stockholm and David Zwirner in New York.

I'm very much a fan of Jockum Nordstrom's work, unfortunately the man is almost a complete unknown in the anglophone world it seems.
