Our 50's Modern House

Thought I'd post some pictures of our house. We're still trying to move things around and generally make the 50s element cool instead of dated and old. Take a look!

Gorgeous! Would you mind sharing the make/model of the fabulous light fixture over the dining table? Love it!!

The dining room light fixture--- well, you won't believe it but it's from eBay. It's brand new and you can buy them on eBay still-- just search for "Zoom chandelier" and you'll find them. Made in Germany and before shipping, they convert them to US currents. It expands and contracts kind of like a jellyfish, so you can reshape it in many ways! And it has 20 lights, so it's bright.

Your house is beautiful. I just finished a remodel on a house originally built in 1952 with the post and beam style. You did a great job!

Love the kitchen cabinets.

Where are they from?

I love your bedding - it looks a little like packing blankets. What was the source?

Thanks for your comments! The kitchen cabinets are from Lowe's-- a line from KraftMaid called "Venicia." The bedding is actually from Design Within Reach a few years ago. They've discontinued it but you can find similar things at Macy's and Room & Board. You can see a slideshow of our house on APARTMENT THERAPY here:

The house was so neat and elegant. I want to raise my family on this kind of house. I see harmony, love and peace on this kind of home.
