The A_Stool: Powder-coated aluminum stools from Chicago designer Jonathan Nesci. They can be made in any RAL color and retail for $1,050. I've been looking for barstools for a year and I think these are perfect-- easy to wipe down, stylish, and completely cool. When I see something this simple I think, how is it that I've never seen something like this before? Great. halefurniture

Screens

I've been working on a new project for the backyard-- a screen to hide some ugly features of the back of our house. The top picture is from a public walkway in Hong Kong. Easy 2x4 construction. The middle is a screen I photographed in a restaurant. Also easy, it's made of large dowls stuck into a wooden block that's been drilled. The bottom is a room divider from Crate & Barrel that's nice, but pricey.

Tyler Bender

Sometimes etsy really pays off.
Tyler Bender is a self-taught visual artist and fabricator of blank books and other functional art objects. He buys vintage books, and rebinds the cover with an assortment of different papers for the interiors. Inside, every page is different and all are ready for you to record your thoughts. I love the idea but it's his craftsmanship that really sells these pieces. Buy one now! Buy one for me too! at etsy
